Manage your stress in 5 simple steps!

Stress is like an annoying little brother, always following you around, niggling away at you and getting under your skin. But just like dealing with an annoying little brother, there are ways to manage your stress that don’t involve strangling them (or yourself). Below are my top 5 steps to help your stress melt away.

  1. First, try laughing it off. Watch a comedy, read a funny book, or even just think about that bent over holding your tummy laughing ’til you almost pee moment. Laughter is the best medicine, after all!
  2. Next, get active. Go for a walk, run, or bike ride. Exercise is a great way to release pent-up energy and clear your head. Plus, you’ll feel like a boss after a good workout.
  3. Another tip is to practice mindfulness. Take a few deep breaths, focus on the present moment, and let go of any worries about the past or future. Meditation is a great way to release tension and rewind the stress.
  4. Talk to a friend, colleague, professional or even your dog! The saying ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’ didn’t come from nowhere 🙂
  5. Lastly, don’t be afraid to treat yourself. Do something nice for yourself, like indulging in a bubble bath, giving yourself a foot massage or buying yourself a small treat. You deserve it!

Stress may be a pain, but with a bit of laughter, exercise, mindfulness and self-care, you can learn to manage your stress and keep going strong.

Remember, next time you feel stress creeping up, give yourself space: to laugh, exercise, breathe, and treat yourself.
